After encipherment, Lorenz messages were sent by radio teleprinter, using 5-hole punched paper tape and the Baudot code (see below).
Eight numbered bollards on the Bill Tutte Memorial have been made to resemble paper tape running over a roller. The fronts of the bollards carry the name William Tutte in Baudot code but there is a different message on the reverse side of each one.
Can you read the messages? (Don’t worry, the messages are not enciphered but remember that the reverse side must be read upside down, just as it would be in a tape running over a roller!) The Solution can be found here.
